Batgirl Cast List Announces Michael Keaton’s Return as Batman

Could we see Michael Keaton turn back as Batman Batgirl after first making his return to the role in The flash? According to Warner Bros., it probably looks that way. An official press release in which the upcoming movie, which is planned as an exclusive HBO Max, lifts, lists Keaton’s name as part of the cast. This is a new revelation with Keaton joining previously announced cast members Leslie Grace, JK Simmons, Brendan Fraser and Jacob Scipio.

The press release describes Batgirl as an action-adventure movie and the “first live-action movie ever starring the popular DC Super Hero, Batgirl.” Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah directed the film, which is currently being filmed, using a screenplay by The Flash writer Christina Hodson. Kristin Burr produces and the executive producers include Michael E. Uslan, Walter Hamada, Galen Vaisman and Hodson.

Because this release is directly from Warner Bros. come, it seems the cast is official, unless Keaton’s name somehow at the Batgirl accidentally released. It is also possible that the studio was hoping to make a big announcement about this cast at some point and that his name was inserted prematurely in the press release. In any case, this reported cast is consistent with rumors that Keaton’s Batman as the “Nick Fury of the DCEU” by appearing in various projects.

The filmmakers confirmed that Batman did Batgirl universe, but no one revealed it which Batman could be it. JK Simmons’ cast as James Gordon would apparently indicate that we are still in the DCEU, which originally had Ben Affleck as Batman. Keaton will join the DCEU as its Batman variant in The flash, so it would still make sense for him to appear in Batgirl. Anyway, maybe it will all make better sense later The flash, which will introduce the vibrant multiverse in the DCEU.

“It was an incredible moment,” said Leslie Grace. Variety from the moment she learned of her cast. “When I mean incredible, I mean the textbook definition of, I could not believe it. My brain actually broke when I got the news. The directors actually called me, and the producers were at stake. ”

“They called me under the pretext, or made me jump on a Zoom link under the pretext that I was doing a final test – that it was just another step in the process,” she added. “So I jump in, and I only see our two directors, Adil [El Arbi] a Bilall [Fallah], which is so sweet. They were like, ‘Yeah, we just want to do this last test,’ but at the bottom I can see there are eight contestants, and it’s recording, and I’m like, ‘Okay, I do not know what it is. not. is.’ And then they broke it to me like, ‘We just want you to read this text; we’ll send it to your email. ‘ And I open it and it says, ‘I’m Batgirl, love Adil,’ and my brain broke.

Maybe Grace’s Barbara Gordon will meet Michael Keaton’s Bruce Wayne in Batgirl, but is it the same Batman she’s always known, or a variant coming in from elsewhere? The movie is expected to appear on HBO Max sometime in 2022, so we’ll find out soon enough.
