Top 10 Superhero Movies of 2021

Superhero movies have defined an entire generation of cinema fans. Jon Favreau introduced the world to Robert Downey Jr. ‘s version of Tony Stark in his 2008 film, Ysterman. Since then, a Marvel Cinematic Universe was created that involves characters and storylines intertwined by various films and franchises. At the same time, DC created their own Expanded Universe with movies like Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman. The superhero genre has also expanded to include animated films, including the hugely popular Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, which is currently a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Whether you’re a DC or a Marvel fan, there’s no doubt that superhero movies are action-packed rides that most anyone can get in the theater. 2021 was a fantastic year for the genre and continued many storylines, including The Suicide Squad, and the much anticipated Spider-Man: No Way Home. This year, Marvel also introduced several new characters, including the first Asian-American led superhero movie, Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings, starring Simu Liu as the title hero. 10 Venom: Let there be carnage

Andy Serkis directed this sequel after the 2018 film, Poison. The film plays Tom Hardy who repeats his role of Eddie Brock. As Brock tries to adjust to his new life to house an alien entity called Venom, he finds himself facing Cletus Kasady (Woody Harrelson) who becomes the host of the looming alien Carnage. Venom: Let there be carnage again offers grotesque special effects while further exploring the complicated relationship between Brock and Venom. The film has a solid mix of comedy and action and is a must-see for any Marvel fan.

The film is a fantastic superhero movie that also offers views in World History. Audiences have a good look at The Flash, voiced by Matt Bomer, who uses his time travel ability to help the Justice Society through their struggle. Set in the 1940s was an original twist for a superhero movie, and the film delivered on all levels, including superb animation, fantastic fight scenes, and compelling voice acting.

Major Grom: Plague Doctor was adapted from the Russian comic book of the same time, published by Bubble Comics. The film follows Igor Grom (Tikhon Zhiznevsky), a skilled police officer who locates criminals with unique and strategic methods. His main pursuit in the film is that of an evil killer named The Plague Doctor. The film is filled with impressive footage that at many points feels like a Marvel or DC movie. Major Grom: Plague Doctor currently has an 81% hearing rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

7 Batman: Soul of the Dragon

Batman: Soul of the Dragon is an original movie that was not based on a specific comic book issue. The film follows Batman and other trained heroes who discover that their Martial Arts Master is missing and a mysterious remnant has been released. The film is an original version of Batman and offers satisfying looks in its martial arts training. The animation is off the top shelves and the plot is staggering as it takes you to new dimensions in the Batman Universe.

6 Zack Snyder’s Justice League

Zack Snyder’s Justice League is definitely DC’s version of The Avengers. A group of heroes, including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and more, are brought together to face a threat to humanity. The film is extremely character-driven, offering glimpses into the past turmoil of every hero. To the original Justice League was greeted with mixed reviews, which fans begged for Zack Snyder’s cut from the movie, which gave us a darker and more thought-provoking version.

4 The Suicide Squad

The Suicide Squad is an amazing mix of comedy and action that contains even more fights and violence compared to the original.

3 Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings

Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings is a revolutionary film that (finally) opened the door to the first Asian-American directed superhero film in MCU history. The film portrays Simu Lui as Shang Chi, with a fantastic supporting cast that includes Awkwafina, Meng’er Zhang and Benedict Wong. The choreography in this film is groundbreaking and creates several memorable action scenes. The mythology of the Ten Rings organization is fascinating and helps to create a memorable story. The success of the film has already paved the way for an upcoming sequel.
