Lori Loughlin is the latest Voltal star to speak out after the sudden death of the series star Bob Saget. After performing at what would have been his last comedy show on Saturday night, Saget was found dead in his hotel room in Orlando the next day. Because he has always been so full of life and still very active and optimistic about the future, the news was just as heartbreaking as it is shocking to Saget’s family, friends and fans.
Loughlin knew Saget very well from their time together Voltal. In the sitcom, Saget played family patriarch Danny Tanner. He worked as a morning news presenter for the program Wake up, San Francisco with Loughlin’s Rebecca Donaldson. It was through their friendship that Rebecca met Uncle Jesse (John Stamos) and eventually became a member of the family herself. Behind the scenes, Saget and Loughlin were also good friends, as the cast kept in touch in the years after the show ended.
“Words cannot begin to express how devastated I am,” Loughlin said after Saget’s recent death, per. Yahoo Entertainment. “Bob was more than my friend; he was my family. I will miss his kind heart and quick wit. Thank you for a lifetime of wonderful memories and laughter. I love you, Bobby.”
Bob Saget and Lori Loughlin reunite as Danny and Rebecca at Fuller House
When Voltal came to an end, the cast had no idea they would ever share the screen together again. Decades later, it became fashionable in Hollywood to reload popular shows and movies from years ago, and Netflix came into action by ordering Full House to series. The updated show takes place in the same San Francisco home that appeared in the original, with most of the original cast returning to repeat their roles from Voltal, without the retired Olsen twins.
Although Loughlin was written from the last series of Full House amid the 2019 college admissions scandal, Saget stood by his friend when asked about the situation in interviews. While he knew that the refusal to cut Loughlin out of his life might bring a bit of a setback in his own direction, the comedian was open about how much he loved Loughlin. As he explained on Michael Rosenbaum’s Inside you podcast:
“I love her. I’ve been asked so much already. I’ve been humiliated. I just love her. I do not know, I would love to see a lot other people who do time. I do not know. We’re in such a place true, no matter what I say, I’m confused, you know, and I just love her. That’s where I am about it. “
Bob Saget had a reputation for being just as warm and friendly as he was funny. Everyone who knew him shared his sincere tributes, as fans around the world also mourned “America’s Dad.” Some of his stand-ups may have been about as naughty as comedy can get, a stark contrast to his family-friendly material on ABC, but the ending was always the same for Saget: he just wanted to make people laugh. Rest in peace for a comedy legend.
