Thor: Love and Thunder bring Tessa Thompson‘s Valkyrie returns to MCU for the first time since Avengers: Endgame in 2019. Since we last saw the Queen of New Asgard, it looks like she’s acquired some new comedy-accurate powers that will be fully seen in the MCU’s fourth Thor movie. Valkyrie has been a fan favorite since her first appearance in Thor: Ragnarok, and it’s no surprise to see her back with Chris Hemsworth’s Thor in the latest installment of director Taika Waititi.
Since her arrival in the MCU, Valkyrie was seen riding her horse Pegasus, showed her superpower and ability to use a weapon, and proved more than a match for Thor when it comes to sticking to her own against the biggest and worst that the Marvel- world can throw her. However, when it comes to her full range of powers as depicted in the comics, we have not yet seen how many of her qualities come to the screen, which is something that is apparently going to change into Thor: Love and Thunder.
In a new interview with W Magazine, Thompson elaborated on some of her character’s “strange” and “rather erotic” skills, which may play a role in the latest Thor movie. For many fans of her comic book iteration, seeing some of her specific talents translated to the big screen would definitely add something to her formidable fighting skills and more to do with the mythological side of her character. She said:
“She has strange skills, to be honest. She can sense when someone is near death, and she takes them into Valhalla, which is essentially the afterlife. She can revive people. But when she makes people revive, she sometimes ends up in their body. It’s a strange thing. It can be quite erotic. And then she has superhuman strength and she is essentially God. ”
To see Valkyrie’s full range of powers match Taika Waititi’s “Crazy Wild” movie
While Marvel is known to take some liberties with the way they translated certain characters into the MCU’s big screen story, recently many of the longtime heroes have come back into touch with their roots, whether through changes to costumes or persona, and seeing Valkyrie’s entire range of abilities in her latest appearance will definitely match the director Taika Waititi‘s vision for another “crazy wild” movie like Thor: Ragnarok for this.
“Sometimes two people come together to inspire the world and change the film landscape forever. And then there’s Chris Hemsworth and I who’ve too cool to care about anything but making movies that bring people absolute joy. Ok I do not look cool I know. “This movie is the craziest thing I’ve ever done and I’m honored to breastfeed and have a nervous breakdown so you can all see it in May 2022,” the director said last summer at the conclusion of the filming of the movie.
Thor: Love and Thunder will be the second MCU movie of 2022, now arriving on July 8th thereafter Doctor Strange in the Versatile of Madness who took the May 6 slot.
