Ana De Armas fans sue Universal Due over actress cut from Yesterday

Two Ana De Armas fans filed a federal class action lawsuit against Universal for claiming the actress was not in the final cut of the movie Yesterday, although the actress appeared in the trailer. The film hit theaters in June 2019 and grossed $ 154 million worldwide. Conor Woulfe, 38, and Peter Michael Rosza, 44, say they each paid $ 3.99 to rent the movie on Amazon Prime, only to discover that De Armas had been removed from the film’s final cut.

The case accuses Universal of engaging in misleading marketing techniques by adding De Armas to the trailer and putting her on the film’s cast list. In addition, it also accuses Universal of false advertising, unfair enrichment and violation of competition laws, among other claims. The lawsuit seeks to recover at least $ 5 million on behalf of affected consumers who saw the movie.
