Simon Pegg Teases Future Project With Cornetto Trilogy Director Edgar Wright

Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz star Simon Pegg has teased future projects alongside writer / director Edgar Wright. The pair have teamed up many times over the years, with their collaboration resulting in some of the most beloved comedies of modern times, including The Cornetto Trilogy and the superb series Spaced on the small screen. In an interview with, Pegg revealed that he and Wright have been “talking about stuff,” but thanks to scheduling nothing has come together … yet.

“With Edgar and I, we have to just get our schedules in order so that we can write together again. We’re talking about stuff, there’s been ideas thrown around and we’re circling something. But obviously he’s really busy, I ‘ m really busy. It’s not like the old days when we were just trying to get seen and we had all that time. Now things are a little more complicated. But there’s room in my heart for all that stuff and I obviously want to work Edgar and Nick again because they are my mates and it means we get to hang out more. “

Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright first worked together on the television series Spaced way, way back in 1999. After two critically acclaimed series involving a wonderful cast of characters and the kind of pitch-perfect movie and comic book references you could ever want, the pair reunited for 2004’s zombie rom-com Shaun of the Dead.

After masterfully making their mark on the zombie-slash-horror genre, Pegg and Wright turned their attention to action movies with 2007’s Hot Fuzz, followed by science fiction in 2013’s The World’s End and thus wrapping up The Cornetto Trilogy. Considered to be one of the best comedy trilogies of all time, fans of the Pegg / Wright duo will now be hugely excited to hear that they are working to reunite on another project.

While the “ideas” mentioned by Simon Pegg remain a mystery, we can at least be sure they aren’t working on a sequel to any of their hits. Though Pegg does state that he would to play the protagonist of The World’s End, Gary King, again, he and Wright are more concerned with making something different.

“I’d love to play Gary King again from The World’s End because I really, really loved playing that character,” Pegg said recently. “Edgar and I tend not to dwell on the past. We do not do sequels to our movies because we just always want to keep things moving, do different things. And people always ask us about sequels, and we always say no. I think that will always be the case, but in an imaginary kind of scenario where we did a sequel, I would definitely do a kind of post-apocalyptic World’s End sequel with Gary off in the wilderness with his blank friends fighting. “

Sequels to their Cornetto Trilogy have been discussed before however, with Simon Pegg suggesting a follow-up to Shaun of the Dead would be titled From Dusk Till Shaun. Though sometimes it is best to just leave things alone. Still, considering the post-apocalyptic ending of The World’s End, it’s hard not to wonder about the brilliant things that Pegg and Wright would do …
