Rian Johnson shares first footage of Knives Out 2, teasing more to come

The first footage was released for Knives from 2 with more to come soon enough, according to writer-director Rian Johnson. After Netflix raised big money for Johnson to develop two Knives out sequel to The Streamer, the filmmaker has since wrapped up his work on the first of the two sequels. A short snippet of the film has been shown in a new trailer that has all the upcoming 2022 releases on Netflix, and Johnson split that footage and turned it into a GIF to share online with his followers.

In the tweet, Johnson notes that there will be “many MANY many more” footage to come from Knives from 2. Let’s hope it’s soon, but it’s hard to say, because the latest rumors are that the movie will only hit Netflix later this year. Nevertheless, with Netflix releasing new footage at this point, there’s a good chance that more pieces of the film will be unveiled in the coming months, giving us a better look at the sequel’s new ensemble cast.


Of course, as seen in the short footage of Knives from 2, Daniel Craig returns as the prolific puzzle solver Benoit Blanc. Much like the original movie, Knives from 2 will have an impressive ensemble cast, which this time consists of completely new names. The film stars Dave Bautista, Edward Norton, Janelle MonĂ¡e, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Kate Hudson, Madelyn Cline, Jessica Henwick and Ethan Hawke.

Numerous other exciting titles have been teased in Netflix’s new preview video. Animated projects, on which Netflix has also put a bit more focus, are also featured in this new teaser video. We get flashes of Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, The sea animal, and Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key’s Wendell and Wild.

Knives from 2 does not yet have an official release date, but the film will start streaming on Netflix sometime in 2022.
