Fans are stoked to see The Batman finally make its way to theaters in March, but watching the finished cut for the first time was a challenge for Robert Pattinson. In the new film, Pattinson debuts his incarnation of Bruce Wayne, the latest in a series of actors to play a live-action Batman on the big screen. There are tentative plans to develop sequels in addition to separate spinoff shows in development at HBO Max.
Needless to say, there’s a lot of pressure on Pattinson heading into the release of this film. That fact was not lost on Pattinson himself, who has enough trouble as it is watching his own movies. In a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Livethe actor addressed how terrified he was to watch The Batman. He also admits he’s “scared” about the release, perhaps with the stakes so high and with so much mainstream attention on the release of this film.
“I was absolutely terrified. I have not been this scared to release a movie in such a long time. I have not even released a movie in a really long time! I mean, I’d seen the first 90 minutes by myself in an IMAX before and I knew that the first 90 minutes was great. But I’ve kind of gotten into this habit where I kind of realized I need to be in the perfect balance of serotonin to watch my own stuff and, like, so I need to kind of … I need to work out for two hours beforehand, I need to have an enormous amount of sugar and caffeine and so, like, whatever I’m watching, I’m like, ‘yes!’ “
The Wait for The Batman Is Almost Over
Robert Pattinson might have some mixed emotions, but everyone else is eagerly awaiting the release of The Batman. You can not fault the fans for being especially excited for this release. Had everything gone according to plan, we would have gotten the film long ago, but the pandemic and its associated production delays put a stop to those plans. After a lengthy and challenging production process, the film was finally completed, and we are now just a matter of day from the premiere.
Matt Reeves direct The Batman using a screenplay co-written with Peter Craig. Along with Pattinson as Bruce Wayne, the film stars Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon.
