It is well known that Marvel fans can be a little impatient when it comes to seeing trailers for upcoming entries in the MCU. For that reason, with just over three months until the premiere of Thor: Love and Thunderthere are daily calls for the first trailer for the film to be released and provide a first glimpse of what to expect from Taika Waititi‘s follow up to Thor: Ragnarok. While the wait to see that first footage continues, the film has broken a long-standing MCU record that fans would have rather not seen it take over.

As we head towards 90 days to the release of Thor: Love and Thunder, the lack of any footage being revealed means that the movie has taken the title of having the shortest window between the release of a first trailer and the film debuting in cinemas. To point out how long-standing a record this was, the movie that has lost its crown was The Incredible Hulk from 2008, when the MCU was still in its infancy.

Of course, trailers have always been the subject of much social media activity, with images being leaked by various insider accounts and fans constantly calling for the next set of footage to be released. This was seen at its peak in the run-up to the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, when many dates that were predicted to see trailers drop were met with radio silence from Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures. Although Marvel then went and released the first trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as the post credit scene of Tom Holland’s latest Spider-Man adventure, the Thor: Love and Thunder trailer has not been as quick in coming.

Thor: Love and Thunder Trailer Has Been Rumored to Be Coming on Monday April 11th

Thanks to a recent image of Taika Waititi, Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson, which was shared as the trio began ramping up early promotion of the film, there is a strong belief by fans that the first trailer will be arriving on April 11th. Although we have seen this kind of rumor come and go many times in the past, the key to the theory remains on the admittedly strange hand signals being held in poses by the director and the movie’s leads.

As can be seen in the image, it could be interpreted that Waititi is holding up two fingers to signify “11”, Hemsworth is next with four fingers up in rock gestures, and Thompson closes it off with two peace signs that have been said to indicate this year. That would mean, in international terms, it would combine to produce the date of 11/04/22. Whether this turns out to be true or not, unless there is something in the trailer that is going to give away secrets from Doctor Strange in The Multiverse or Madness or an upcoming episode of Moon Knight, it does not seem likely that Marvel Studios will be able to hold off showing some footage from Thor’s fourth outing for much longer.
