Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves Will Be Have Plenty of Humor, Teases Chris Pine
Not much information has been divulged about Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thievesthough it will obviously take a lot of inspiration from the Dungeons & Dragons franchise. In a previous interview with ColliderChris Pine said that the project was a blast to work on, describing the end result as a mix of Game of Thrones and The Princess Bride with a few dashes of Monty Python and the Holy Grail and The Goonies sprinkled in.
“Oh man. Well, what I will say is we had a hell of a fun time making it. There was a lot of laughs. The way that I’ve been describing it, it’s like Game of Thrones mixed with a little Princess Bridejust a smidge of Holy grail; it’s somewhere in that ballpark. It’s a lot of fun. It’s got a lot of thrills. It’s poppy, it’s eighties heartfelt, there’s a bit of Goonies in there. My character, he’s the ultimate party planner. I think it’s going to be really good. I mean, who fucking knows, but I think we got a good shot and John and John are killer guys. They know comedy and they know heart and we had a great cast and we had a good time making it. And that’s all you can ask for. ”
Let’s hope it’s better received than the live-action movie that hit theaters back in 2000. That film, which starred Justin Wahlin, Marlon Wayons, Jeremy Irons, and Thora Birch, was a box office bomb when it was released. To make matters worse, the critical reception was almost universally negative, landing the film with a 10% rotten rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Hasbro has been hoping that a fresh take on the franchise more than 20 years later will turn out differently. Meanwhile, other D&D projects are in the works, such as a live-action series from Red Notice director Rawson Marshall Thurber.
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves will be released in theaters on March 3, 2023.
