Rachel Zegler Seemingly Confirms Hunger Games Prequel Casting

Perhaps The Hunger Games will be the next big franchise for Rachel Zegler to explore. In recent days, there have been rumors swirling of Zegler’s potential casting in The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakesa prequel to The Hunger Games that’s in the works. Now, with a new tweet posted to Twitter on Memorial Day, Zegler has seemingly confirmed the casting news in a rather sly way, or she could just be having fun with the rumors.

The tweet reads: “listen up… .. can y’all grow restfully? Are you becoming an individual resting decisively?”

On its surface, the tweet seems a bit odd, but that could be because there’s a secret message within. Internet sleuths have figured out that the first letter of each word in the tweet form the name Lucy Gray Baird. That name just so happens to be one of the main characters of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakesmeaning Zegler is dropping a big hint or we have an incredible coincidence on our hands.

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

As casting on the movie is underway, it would make sense for Zegler’s casting announcement to be imminent. It was just recently reported that Tom Blyth had been cast in the movie to play a young President Snow. The film follows Snow as an 18-year-old, decades before he’d become the primary villain of the Hunger Games films as played by Donald Sutherland. It is set 64 years before the events of the first Hunger Games movie, which famously starred Jennifer Lawrence.

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is scheduled to be released on Nov. 23, 2023.

Rachel Zegler Is Our Live-Action Snow White

If Rachel Zegler is playing Lucy Gray Baird in The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes as she seems to be teasing, it would just mark the latest big role for the quickly rising Hollywood star. Zegler has been in the spotlight a lot lately with her impressive performance in the Steven Spielberg musical West Side Story. With her role in the film, Zegler acquired a Golden Globe Award and appeared at the Oscars when fans cried foul after she was initially not invited.

Zegler has also been working on Snow Whitea live-action remake of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs that is in development at Disney. That film also features Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen, but it’s not clear what will be happening with the seven dwarfs. Peter Dinklage famously criticized how the remake was expected to include dwarf characters, leading to rumors that “magical creatures” will be brought in to replace them.

Meanwhile, Zegler will step into the DCEU with a role in the anticipated superhero sequel Shazam! Fury of the Gods. That film, which also stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, and Djimon Hounsou, is set to be released on Dec. 21, 2022.
