Emily in Paris Star Has Ideal Role for Kim Cattrall

Samantha Jones may not pop up on Emily in Parisbut that does not mean fans should count Kim Cattrall out. The notion that Samantha and Emily would cross professional paths is reasonable, as they both work in the marketing and public relations world, but Emily in Paris creator Darren Star, who also created Sex and The City, has already ruled out that possibility. However, he recently told Variety that he would love to have Kim Cattrall on the series as a new character.

There’s already one Emily in Paris star shooting a pitch for what he believes would be the ideal role for Cattrall. During the Cannes Film Festival, William Abadie (who plays Antoine) told Variety:

“I need a mistress, do not I? I think I need a mistress. Please, Mr. Star. I need a mistress. Preferably blonde, preferably British and preferably brilliant. ”

Cattrall, who is obviously blonde, is also British and Canadian.

There is also one more reason that Cattrall fans can remain hopeful that the actress will make a special appearance on Emily in Paris. During a Variety cover interviewshe said:

“I think Darren got it right with ‘Emily in Paris.’ It’s a young show. It’s about young ideals. It’s about discovery. ”

Emily in Paris stars Lily Collins, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Ashley Park, Lucas Bravo, Samuel Arnold, Bruno Gouery, Camille Razat, and William Abadie. Seasons one and two of Emily in Paris are currently streaming on Netflix. Season three filming is currently filming.

Kim Cattrall’s Iconic Samantha Jones

Kim Cattrall played Samantha Jones for all six seasons of HBO’s Sex and the City. During the series’ rise to popularity in the 1990s, the show was praised for its openness about sex, and when it came to Samantha, audiences enjoyed watching her sexual freedom and sex-positive attitude.

During the show’s final season, Samantha is diagnosed with breast cancer. This showed audiences another part of Jones’ character, highlighting her resilience and strength. During a particularly memorable scene, the glamorous Samantha removes her wig onstage while giving a speech for a cancer benefit, leading many of the women in the audience to do the same.

Cattrall received two Screen Actors Guild Awards and a Golden Globe Award for her portrayal of Samantha Jones. She later reprised her role in the films Sex and the City and Sex and the City 2before declining to participate in the HBO Max series And Just Like That… While Samantha does not appear in the series, her absence is explained: After a falling out with the group, she relocates to London. After the untimely death of Mr. Big, Samantha sends flowers to Carrie, and the two occasionally text. It is implied that Carrie and Samantha reconcile when Carrie travels to Paris to spread her husband’s ashes.
